The Ideal Chain Whip For Track, Fixie and single speed Bikes
There are two tools necessary to remove most cassettes, a lockring remover, and a chain whip. This is the whip part. Unior makes two, one for so-called 3/32 drivetrains and another for 1/8," such as those sometimes found on track bikes.
This particular product is the 1/8" chain whip meant for fixed-gear sprockets. The tool body is the same, but the chains are different on Unior's two chain whips.
The spring attached to the chain on this whip helps to keep it wrapped around the cog as well as keeping it from getting twisted up in your toolbox. Combine this with your favorite lockring tool and you'll be ready to remove nearly any gear cluster you'll be faced with.
